One of my favorite quotes is by Mohammad Ali
“I hated every minute of training but I said, “Don’t quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion.”
Sometimes when I have felt like quitting because I thought I had too much on my plate; working a full-time job and a half, raising a family with special needs children, taking care of a sibling who had suddenly become ill and was in and out of the hospital for a few years, what kept my feet to the fire was my dream: to quit my day job and start my own speaking and coaching business. That meant I had to work after work, to prepare for the work that I knew I was called, anointed, and Born to do. That was the joy work that had to be done regardless of how late or how early it was. I had to do something consistently. I had to suffer the pains of lack of sleep, stressing to get here and there, but I, like Mohammad Ali knew that I had to suffer (endure the discomfort of the now) in order to create the life of a champion, live out my dreams, and wake up with a song that lasted all the day long.
What I discovered along the way was that I was able to muster up all of the energy, will, strength, and tenacity that I needed to forge ahead. When you are working on something that lights your passion, that gets you excited, it’s electric. Just doing it really works. Having my favorite quotes all around me kept me inspired.
